Andreas Racing Association - TT Festival Meeting - June 2nd 2001

I was a late entry for the Andreas club's TT week meeting, and was down to ride in the two Forgotten Era races. James Broughton was going to be the man to beat, although it was going to be interesting to see how Dave Madsen Mygdal gets on his old RG.

It was one of them days really, starting off by going on my head, as only I can, during practice. I tried to pass a back marker, and ended up bashing into one of my old friends - the dreaded Jurbystone Park cones!

I went straight thought the front off thee screen like something off No Limits, landing slap bang on my head, wrecking my helmet, and leaving the RG looking pretty rough.

I got back to the pits, and got Paul and Rocco to help me drag it back to the pits to see if we could get it going for the first race. I rang Dave and got him to come straight from having his dinner, with the fairing and a few other bits I had managed to wreck!

After a bit of frantic work by Dave and Nigel, it was built, but in true 'Fraggil Rock Racing' fashion, held together with silver tape and strap ties.

With all the rushing around, I would have to admit, that my head wasn't really in gear for the start of this race, not to mention the thumping head ache I had from the crash. However, I got the hole shot and led Chris Palmer and Chris Grose on their 125's for the first couple of laps. But like I said, the head wasn't really in gear, and it wasn't long before I out braked my self letting them, and James Broughton through. I got back past Grosie and James, before ending up on the grass somewhere out the back. It was a disaster of a race really, and I suppose I was lucky to stay on it in the end, finishing fourth on the road and second in class.

The second race was real good fun. I got the break from the flag again, but Palmer was putting me under serious pressure on his 125 every lap on the twisty bits. Going into the last lap, I managed to out brake him (and nearly myself) going into the first set of cones and held him to the flag. Grosie and James were right on our tales all the time and the people watching reckon it was the best race of the day.

However, as expected it wasn't going to be my day. Along with Palmer and James I was disqualified for having an over sizes Foo Foo valve or something. Joking apart it was for something we couldn't prevent, and even Chris Grose who inherited the win, said he couldn't see why we had to be disqualified.

Never mind eh?
